A recorded call or text says your Amazon or Prime account has been charged a large amount — press 1 or tap here to cancel. It’s a trick to get you talking to a “refund” scammer. Here’s how to tell.
⚠️ Example of a scam message“Your Amazon Prime membership has been renewed for $99.99. If you did not authorise this, press 1 to speak to an agent and cancel.”
Show it the message and it’ll tell you honestly whether it looks like a scam, and exactly what to do. Free, calm, and there’s a real person — me — behind it if you’re still unsure.
Never use the number or link in the message. Open the Amazon app or type amazon.com.au yourself, sign in, and check Your Orders and your Prime membership. Any genuine charge shows there.
